Dear Sir/Mam,
My qualification in Basic Medical Sciences-Physiology, my experiences at teaching biology at all levels, the teaching of anatomy and physiology at a higher level, coupled with my strong educational backgrounds and, my level of experiences; should enable me to make a valuable contribution to the teaching team of your
institution as a Biology Teacher. All my work experiences have entailed students contacts, and the tools and techniques I have developed apply directly to what a Biology Teacher needs: placid temperaments, problem-solving skills, analytical skills to scrutinize and meet students’ needs, ability to master information quickly and convey contents to effectively meet students’ needs, strong communication skills, good class management. I have over 8 years of teaching experiences in biology. Biology, a comprehensive subject requires a pragmatic approach, and I have developed basic teaching techniques over years that involved the use of illustrative lecture videos and animations, before the commencement of subject topics,(especially for: Cell dynamics, Nuclei acid, and protein synthesis, inheritance, coordination and control, nervous transmission, enzymes, biological molecules, transport system……most students find these difficult to imbibe) to gain students attention, to broaden their imagination arouse their creative thinking and equip them with high comprehensive skills, needed to answer biology questions have used the “extraction and formulating methods” for years to prepare the students notes; by extracting the solutions to questions from the mark schemes, analyzed, simplified, and formulated these, together with relevant information from the teaching materials into students ‘note. This technique has not only reduced the boredom of lengthy notes that deter students from biology but made my past students to imbibe the basic facts and concepts of the curriculum, rather than memorizing with- Rote learning techniques.
